COVID-19 UPDATE:
As of the current time, we are still moving forward with plans for the VASeRVES conference in November. We are working diligently with Perdido Beach Resort to make sure that the utmost in protective measures are put in place for our presenters and guests. Travel and budget restrictions for our VA officials, presenters, and many of our schools have not yet been lifted. Therefore, we are unable to finalize an agenda at this time, but are looking forward to publishing one this summer so that you may plan accordingly. We still plan to start the conference at 9 am Tuesday, November 17 and end around 5 pm on Thursday, November 19. We are working to make sure that we are able to maintain social distancing at all points during our time together and we look forward to sharing this training opportunity with you in the fall!
AVAA is excited to offer a great training opportunity to our SCOs and partners in military student services. In 2020, we are honored to host the VA Southern Regions Veterans' Education SCO (VASeRVES) Conference. The agenda will be packed with hot topics and training for SCOs and school officials working with VA Education Benefits. Sessions will be taught by state, regional, and national VA leaders who are experts in their fields. Don’t miss the chance to network with other SCOs from the Southern and Eastern Regions as well as having the opportunity to meet federal and state VA leaders, VA organizations relevant to your students and schools, and other military related offices as we learn how to better serve our military student populations.
VA SERVES 2020 CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
We are pleased to announce the opening of registration for the 2020 VASeRVES conference registration starting January 13, 2020. The conference will take place November 17-19, 2020 at the beautiful Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama. The pre-conference session will be starting at 9 am on Tuesday, November 17, with the opening/welcome session beginning at noon. The conference end time has been extended until 5 pm on November 19. The last session of the conference will be the state break-out sessions, so be sure to stick around for that.
Transportation from the Pensacola International Airport (PNS), which is located 29.1 miles from Perdido Beach Resort (PB), to PBR will be provided for those who do not wish to secure their own transportation during the conference. Shuttles will run several times on Monday, November 16, throughout the day on Tuesday, November 17 and then again, the afternoon of Thursday, November 19 and from morning to mid-afternoon on Friday, November 20. As we get closer to the conference time, a shuttle schedule will be published. The shuttles will run several times during the conference for attendees to take advantage of local entertainment and food offerings nearby the conference center. We are working with PNS to offer rental car discounts to those who choose to rent a car and drive to the conference location. We will publish those as soon as they are available.
Conference attendees may also choose to fly into Mobile Regional Airport (MOB) which is located 72.2 miles from Perdido Beach Resort. We are working on negotiating car rental discounts from this location as the shuttle service will not be running from MOB to the conference hotel.
Conference rates and schedule are as follows:

Early registration: $395 if registration complete prior to September 1, 2020.

Late registration: $450 if registration complete from September 2, 2020- October 15, 2020.

Last minute conference registration prices from October 16, 2020 until the conference time will be $495.

Please note that all payments must be received by the end of each registration time frame. Those paying on site for the conference will be subject to last minute conference registration prices.

Only those registering prior to October 15 will receive one complimentary VASeRVES 2020 t-shirt with their registration.

Priority for group pricing on extracurricular events throughout the week will be given to early registrants. More details on these events and pricing will be released in Spring 2020.
